Is online notarization legal in the Philippines?

Yes. On 4 February 2025 the Supreme Court promulgated the Rules on Electronic Notarization (A.M. No. 24-10-14-SC), which took effect on 9 March 2025. The rules supplement the 2004 Rules on Notarial Practice and allow electronic documents to be notarized in person, remotely by videoconference, or through a combination of both.

Will an e-notarized document be accepted like a regular notarized one?

That is the intent of the rules. The notarial act is performed by a commissioned Electronic Notary Public through a facility accredited by the Supreme Court, and every entry is recorded in the Supreme Court's Central Notarial Database so it can be verified. Some agencies and counterparties may still ask for wet-ink originals, so confirm their requirement first for anything high-stakes.

What documents can be notarized online?

Electronic documents in PDF or PDF/A format, including scanned copies of paper documents. Affidavits, special powers of attorney, contracts, deeds, board resolutions and secretary's certificates are typical examples.

What cannot be notarized online?

Accepted Answer

Notarial wills, depositions, and paper documents with handwritten signatures or marks. Those stay under the 2004 Rules on Notarial Practice and need a traditional notary.

Do I have to appear on video?

You choose the mode the rules allow: in-person electronic notarization, remote electronic notarization by videoconference, or a hybrid where some parties appear in person and others join remotely.

I am an OFW. Can I use this from abroad?

Accepted Answer

Remote electronic notarization generally requires all parties to be physically within the Philippines. Filipinos abroad may still e-notarize if they are physically inside a Philippine embassy or consulate during the session.

How will you verify my identity?

Through electronic know-your-customer checks against a government-issued ID, liveness and anti-spoofing detection, and multi-factor authentication before the session starts. The notary also confirms your identity on the record during the videoconference.

Is my document and personal data safe?

Documents are encrypted in storage and in transit, every action is written to an audit trail, and personal data is handled under the Data Privacy Act. Notarized documents are lodged with the Supreme Court's Central Notarial Database for verification.

Pricing will be published in full before launch: the notarial fee allowed under the rules plus a clear platform fee, with the total shown before you pay. No subscription is required for one-off documents.

Are you already accredited by the Supreme Court?

Not yet. Accreditation for Electronic Notarization Facility providers opened on 9 December 2025 and our application is in progress. Accredited providers must meet the Court's technical standards, execute a data outsourcing agreement, and post a performance bond. We will not notarize a single document before our Certificate of Accreditation is issued.
